Mariia Aleksandrovna Andreyevova (Andreevova) was a Byzantinologist. She was born on April 19, 1900, in Saint Petersburg. There she graduated in history at the local philosophical faculty and continued with her studies abroad (since 1922 at Charles University in Prague). In June 1928, she became a professor of general history. She worked at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, in the Russian Historical Society; she also collaborated with the Kondakov Institute and the Department of Slavic Studies. She published in many scientific journals. Between 1936 and 1941, she worked in the Slavonic Library. At that time, first symptoms of her mental illness appeared. The last news we have about M. Andreyevova are from 1949, when she was treated at the Provincial Institute of Mental Health in Prague.
